Consultancy

Steve Williams working for Hitachi, 1991
During my working career I ran sales & marketing operations for Japanese brands, North American and British companies. In addition, I set up and developed my own recruitment business.
My voluntary work includes being a Trustee of three charities and Secretary of one. I am also responsible for the marketing, websites and PR for three local organisations, including dealing with the media (television, radio and newspapers) for the Chorley Pals Memorial appeal.
Prior to taking early retirement I worked on two short-term marketing, development and fundraising contracts. Firstly as Marketing Co-ordinator for a Further Education College in the North West of England and then as Development Officer for a Country Park in the region. Running along side those roles, I helped raise a substantial amount of money for a new community hall in my home village of Brindle in 2006 (see www.brindlecommunityhall.co.uk), obtained two Lottery grants for my local historical society, as well as raising over £100,000 since February 2007 for a statue to the Chorley Pals (see www.chorleypalsmemorial.org.uk).
Since ‘retiring’ in September 2008 I have worked as a Facilitator / Presenter with the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety on their award winning ‘Wasted Lives’ programme. Run by Lancashire County Council, it is aimed at the 17 – 24 year old age group, it highlights the dangers of drink and drug related driving (see www.wastedlives.co.uk).
Commercial and other organisations are welcome to contact me to discuss marketing, development or fundraising roles – be they on a consultancy (fee based) or part-time / ad-hoc (retained fee) basis.
I also offer a talk entitled ‘Marketing and fundraising for local groups and charities’. See the Talks page for further details.
